CREATE staff and colleagues from Student Affairs, Admissions, Financial Aid, and the Chancellor’s office hopped on a bus that took us to Southwest High School, where after a speech by Chancellor Khosla, EAOP offered college info sessions and SDAWP offered a college essay-writing workshop engaging seniors in actually honing personal statements. TRIO (also in CREATE) invited students to join their newly funded Upward Bound program at the school. Next at Gompers Preparatory Academy, a UCSD/CREATE partnership school, our educator colleagues and their students wowed the Chancellor, while CREATE researchers discussed strategies for closing leaks in the local pipeline; EAOP gave another great workshop on transferring from community college and SDAWP repeated their workshop, engaging GPA students in actually writing personal statements.

We were proud to join UCSD colleagues in this active college outreach event.
