Passing the Torch: Dr. Clarence B. Jones to Speak at High Tech High Feb. 27

Dr. Clarence B. Jones, distinguished civil rights activist and author, will speak at High Tech High’s second annual Passing the Torch event on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the High Tech High Forum (2150 Cushing Road, San Diego, CA 92106) The event is free and open to the public. Children and students are welcome.

Jones worked directly with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to organize the “March on Washington For Jobs and Freedom” and assisted King in writing his “I Have A Dream” speech. Andres Chavez, grandson of Cesar Chavez, will also speak. The event features a book signing of Jones’ latest publication “Behind the Dream” and a question and answer session. 

According to High Tech High Provost Ben Daley, the Passing the Torch event is designed to share lessons from civil rights leaders with an intergenerational audience so all can learn from that history and apply it today. Please RVSP here to reserve your seat.
